The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) has deployed operatives to major highways across the state as part of a special traffic management operation for the Easter celebrations.
The TRACE Commander, Elias Adedayo Omonayajo, disclosed this in Abeokuta while addressing journalists, noting that the initiative is designed to ensure seamless traffic flow, rapid emergency response, and enhanced road safety throughout the festive period.
According to him, the “Special Easter Order” involves the full deployment of operational personnel and resources across 27 major traffic corridors in the state.
He explained that the operation would run on a 24-hour basis to guarantee prompt clearance of road obstructions, quick rescue services, and effective traffic control.
Omonayajo added that the exercise would not only cover the Easter period but would also be sustained afterward to maintain safety and order on major routes.
The affected corridors include the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Interchange–Sagamu–Ijebu-Ode–Benin/Ore Expressway, Sango/Ota–Atan–Owode–Idiroko Highway, Atan–Lusada–Agbara–Badagry Highway, Abeokuta–Kobape–Siun Interchange Expressway, Abeokuta–Ewekoro–Ifo–Sango/Ota Expressway, and the Rounder–Abeokuta–Olorunda–Ayetoro–Imeko–Ilara Border route, among others.
He noted that the Easter season typically witnesses increased human and vehicular movement, which often leads to traffic congestion, vehicle breakdowns, and road crashes.
“We will carry out the operation throughout the festive period, deploying operatives to strategic locations and checkpoints to curb the excesses of recalcitrant motorists, tricyclists, and motorcyclists,” he said.
The TRACE Commander further directed field officers to remain civil, professional, and firm in the discharge of their duties while prioritising the safety of all road users.
He also advised motorists to ensure their vehicles are in good condition before embarking on journeys, warning against excessive speeding, night travel, overloading, use of worn-out tyres, and driving against traffic.
Omonayajo reiterated the agency’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, urging members of the public to cooperate with traffic officials for a hitch-free Easter celebration.
