The Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government has intensified its road grading project across several communities as part of efforts to enhance grassroots development and improve road connectivity.
Executive Chairman of the council, Hon. Lawal Wasiu, said the initiative reflects his administration’s commitment to bridging infrastructure gaps and stimulating socio-economic activities within the local government area.
“The programme is designed to ease the movement of people and goods, open previously inaccessible roads, and stimulate local commerce, thereby delivering tangible dividends of democracy to our residents,” Wasiu said.
He added that the intervention would significantly reduce transportation challenges faced by residents over the years.
He emphasised that improved road networks are critical to sustainable development and better living standards, noting that the grading exercise has been strategically planned to cover the council’s two constituencies, ensuring fairness and inclusivity in the distribution of development projects.
Communities benefiting from the initiative include Markaz Road, The Bells, Olosun Community linking road, Moboluwaduro Idota Titun to Owolabi Olabode, Agoro Community Road in Ijoko, Akogun Bus Stop to Oluoba Street, Ayodele Adenikin Community Road, Ijako/Ishaka ACDC Road, Fakile Street, Able God Close in Oko Baale, and Aleloju Street, all within Ota and its environs.
Local traders and small business owners expressed optimism that improved road access would facilitate the transportation of goods and attract more customers.
“The council remains committed to prioritising infrastructure as a key driver of development. Sustainable progress must begin at the grassroots, with a focus on inclusivity and improved quality of life for all residents,” Wasiu stressed.
Reacting on behalf of residents, Mr. Tajudeen Olowookere described the development as timely and impactful, noting that better road conditions would reduce vehicle maintenance costs, shorten travel time, and enhance safety, particularly for schoolchildren.
