Civil and public servants in Ogun State have been urged to demonstrate a high level of responsibility, dedication and strict adherence to civil service ethics in the discharge of their duties.
The State Head of Service, Kehinde Onasanya, gave the charge during the December 2025 edition of the confirmation and promotion examinations for officers across professional, sub-professional and junior cadres, held at the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic.
Onasanya said the exercise was aimed at strengthening efficiency and enhancing service delivery across the state’s public service, noting that workers would be assessed based on their performance and commitment.
He described Ogun State as a model of excellence in public service delivery and encouraged officers to sustain the standard by remaining committed to their duties.
The Head of Service also commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for approving the exercise, noting that the large turnout of participants reflected the workforce’s readiness to improve capacity.
According to him, the examinations are conducted in line with extant public service regulations and form part of the requirements for confirmation of newly recruited officers, as well as promotion and career progression across Ministries, Departments and Agencies, including boards and parastatals.
He added that the exercise was designed to test officers’ knowledge of key statutory documents such as the Public Service Rules, Financial Regulations and other essential reference materials, including personnel from paramilitary agencies like TRACE and Amotekun.
In her remarks, Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Establishments and Training, Mrs. Lydia Fajounbo, disclosed that the examinations are conducted biannually in June and December to ensure officers are well grounded in the principles guiding the civil service.
Fajounbo revealed that a total of 1,750 candidates participated in the exercise and commended them for their orderly conduct throughout the process.
Some of the participants, including Mr. Sunday Opeyemi of the Hospitals Management Board and Mr. Ifeoluwa Soluade of Ogun State Television, expressed appreciation to the government, noting that the examinations had enhanced their understanding of the civil service system and professional responsibilities.
