The Ijebu-Ode Local Government has proposed a budget of N15.5 billion for the 2026 fiscal year, with a strong focus on sustaining economic stability and delivering tangible development to residents.
Presenting the appropriation bill, tagged “Budget of Sustainable Growth and Inclusive Development,” before the Legislative Council at the council secretariat, the Chairman, Hon. Dare Alebiosu, said the proposal was carefully designed to drive key developmental priorities across the local government.
Alebiosu identified critical sectors captured in the budget to include infrastructural development, education and youth empowerment, healthcare and social welfare, agriculture and economic growth, as well as environmental sustainability.
He disclosed that the proposed budget represents a 23.75 per cent increase over the 2025 appropriation, noting that funding would be driven largely through Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), supported by innovative and transparent mechanisms.
The council chairman reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving the standard of living of the people through sustained development initiatives.
He highlighted some of the achievements recorded so far to include the reconstruction of the Oke-Aje Health Centre, renovation of Itamapako, Apebi and Sabo health centres, and the donation of medical equipment to various health facilities.
Other projects listed include the installation of solar-powered boreholes at the abattoir, provision of a 300KVA transformer at Molipa, renovation of Moslem Primary School in Sabo, upgrade of the Chairman’s office with a solar inverter system, as well as extensive drainage clearing and debris evacuation along Joke Taiwo Street.
In his response, the Leader of the House, Hon. Clement Adenaike, commended the chairman for his developmental strides and assured that the Legislative Council would give the proposal accelerated consideration to ensure its timely passage in the interest of the people.
Adenaike also pledged continued cooperation between the legislative and executive arms of government to sustain and expand development efforts across the local government.
