Speaking during the training session at the office Conference room, Oke- Ilewo, Abeokuta, the Bureau's Coordinator, Mrs. Bolarinwa Adebowale, said that, the training was to deepen the understanding of the participants on Procurement Planning, Preparation, Standard Bidding Documents and to enhance compliance with the State procurement law.
"This training has been organised to strengthen compliance, ensure transparency and promote uniformity in procurement practice across all entities", She said.
The facilitator, a procurement reform Specialist, Engr. Bashiru Olayiwola, in his prsentatiom spoke on the selection of consulting firms, explained that, consultancy services involved expert advice and studies, rather than physical supply, noting that quality and cost- based selection methods were default methods that called for separate technical and financial proposals.
He highlighted the participants through the standard bidding documents for Works, explained some of the bidding requirements for works as liquid asset, bid security, performance security and liquidated damages which could help to sanitise the bidding process and prevent substandard and abandoned project.
The highlight of the training was the practical syndicate group exercise on preparation of tenders documents for procurement of goods and works which would enable participants to work on real-life scenarios.
Participants from the Ministry of Rural Development, Mr. Ayorinde Jowosimi, and representative from the Ministry of Education science and technology, Mrs. Ajoke Kasali, commended the Bureau for the training, noting that it had deepened their understanding of the procurement process.
