The Coordinator of the office of the First Lady of Akwa Ibom State, Lady Helen Eno Obareki, on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, took delivery of empowerment items, donated by Fidelity Bank Plc, in support of women across the state.
The items donated by the bank, including sewing machines and grinding machines, were presented to the Coordinator of the office of the First Lady and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Golden Initiative for All, GIFA, Lady Helen Eno Obareki, by a delegation led by the Executive Director Fidelity Bank, Mrs. Pamela Shodipo.
Receiving the items, Lady Obareki described the gesture as an enormous show of love and support, noting that the office, alongside its flagship empowerment platform, the Golden Initiative for All (GIFA), remains committed to improving the livelihoods of women in the state.
“We are very excited and humbled by this generous support from Fidelity Bank. Every time we find partners, especially those we did not actively seek out, who come forward to support the work we do, we are always truly grateful," she said.
She commended the bank not only for the donation but also for taking the time to present the items in person, describing the visit as a demonstration of genuine commitment to community development.
“On behalf of the Akwa Ibom State Government, the Office of the First Lady, and the Golden Initiative for All, we extend our heartfelt appreciation, not just for the gifts, but for your presence here today,” she added.
Lady Obareki assured that the items would be distributed transparently to deserving beneficiaries, adding that Fidelity Bank would be invited formally, to participate in the distribution ceremony ceremonies.
She further expressed optimism about building a strong and mutually beneficial partnership with the bank in advancing women empowerment initiatives in the state.
The leader of the delegation, Mrs Shodipo described the initiative as the bank’s commitment to practical and sustainable support, through the provision of tools that will enhance productivity, boost income, and strengthen micro businesses across communities.
According to her, the intervention, implemented in collaboration with the Office of the First Lady of Akwa Ibom State aims to equip women with
tools that will enable them earn from their sustainable enterprise, thereby empowering them economically for the benefit of their families.
Shodipo explained that 'Give Her Power' is part of the bank’s broader women-focused proposition which supports women-led businesses through financial services, capacity building, health and wellness programmes, and entrepreneurship development.
She noted that the initiative aligns with activities marking the 2026 International Women’s Day, during which Fidelity Bank announced plans to distribute 1,000 sewing and grinding machines nationwide to support women-led micro enterprises.
Highlighting the significance of the gesture, she described the equipment as tools that would amplify the confidence, resilience and productivity of women, and their improved livelihoods and economic stability.
The Team Lead of GIFA, Pastor Anne Abraham was at the presentation ceremony, together with other officials of the Fidelity Bank plc.
