GLORYWORLD CONVENTION 2026 : LADY HELEN ENO OBAREKI LAUDS CHURCH FOR MEMBERS HOLISTIC DEVELOPMENT






The Coordinator of the office of the First Lady of Akwa Ibom State, Lady Helen Eno Obareki, on Sunday, March 29, 2026, joined worshippers at GloryWorld International Gospel Centre for their 2026 Annual Convention, which held at Je Nissi Event Centre, Uyo. 

Speaking at the event which also doubled as the church’s 8th Anniversary celebration, Lady Obareki applauded the church for her consistent role in the spiritual upliftment of members and community development across the state.

She stated that the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, is committed to improving the welfare of the state's citizens, with a particular focus on the grassroots.


In demonstration of the humanitarian service of the Office of the First Lady to children, youths, and women in the state, Lady Obareki extended her empowerment programme to 50 women in the church.

Declaring the convention open, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, represented by the Honourary Special Adviser to the Governor on Religious Matters, Rev. Ndueso Ekwere, appreciated the host Apostle Samuel Effiong, for his steadfast support over the years. 

Governor Eno who highlighted ongoing infrastructural and educational advancements embarked by his administration and the positive impacts on residents, called on citizens' continuous support for the government and donated ₦10 million to support the church’s evangelical and outreach activities.

The Senior Pastor of Glory World International Gospel Centre, Apostle Samuel Effiong lauded the governor's developmental strides within three years in office and reaffirmed the church’s continued support beyond his tenure, and also appreciated the Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady for honouring the church’s invitation and identifying with its mission.

In his homily on the convention’s theme “Revival Fire", the Guest Minister, and Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria in Cross River State, Apostle Trinity Ogar, who drew his biblical reference from 1 Kings 18:33 and Leviticus 6:13, charged believers to develop a deep hunger for the Word of God, emphasising that genuine encounters with divine “fire” can provide direction and revelation, transform situations and lead to progress.

Lady Helen Obareki was accompanied to the service by the wife of the SSG, Dr Inemesit Uwah; the wife of the Deputy Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Mrs Enobong Edidem; the wife of the Commissioner for Transport, Dr Umo Gabriel and the President of WALGON, Mrs Akaninyene Udo.

The opening of the convention which will span three days, brought together government officials and guests who joined the congregation to offer prayers, and engage in worship sessions.
