The Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady of Akwa Ibom State, Helen Eno Obareki, has lauded GloryWorld International Gospel Centre for its commitment to the holistic development of its members and its contributions to community advancement.
Lady Obareki made the commendation on Sunday at the church’s 2026 Annual Convention, held at Je Nissi Event Centre, an event that also marked the church’s 8th anniversary.
She praised the church for its consistent role in spiritual upliftment and community development across the state, noting that such efforts complement government initiatives aimed at improving citizens’ welfare, particularly at the grassroots.
According to her, the administration of Umo Eno remains committed to enhancing the living standards of residents through people-oriented policies and programmes.
In furtherance of the humanitarian efforts of the Office of the First Lady, Lady Obareki empowered 50 women in the church, reinforcing the government’s focus on supporting women, youths, and vulnerable groups.
Declaring the convention open, Governor Eno, who was represented by the Honourary Special Adviser on Religious Matters, Ndueso Ekwere, expressed appreciation to the Senior Pastor of the church, Samuel Effiong, for his steadfast support over the years.
The governor highlighted ongoing infrastructural and educational projects undertaken by his administration, stating that they have begun to yield positive impacts across the state. He also called for continued support from citizens and announced a donation of ₦10 million towards the church’s evangelical and outreach activities.
In his remarks, Apostle Effiong commended the governor’s developmental strides within three years in office and reaffirmed the church’s support for the administration beyond its tenure. He also appreciated Lady Obareki for honouring the church’s invitation and identifying with its mission.
Delivering the convention’s homily themed “Revival Fire,” the Guest Minister and Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria in Cross River State, Trinity Ogar, urged believers to cultivate a deep hunger for the Word of God. Drawing from biblical references in 1 Kings 18:33 and Leviticus 6:13, he emphasised that genuine encounters with divine “fire” bring direction, transformation, and progress.
The event, which marks the beginning of a three-day convention, attracted government officials, dignitaries, and worshippers who gathered for prayers and worship sessions.
Lady Obareki was accompanied by several prominent personalities, including the wife of the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Inemesit Uwah; the wife of the Deputy Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Mrs Enobong Edidem; the wife of the Commissioner for Transport, Dr Umo Gabriel; and the President of WALGON, Mrs Akaninyene Udo.
