Citizens from Ogun West Senatorial District, organised by Ogun West Professionals, will meet with Senator Olamilekan Adeola on Sunday to discuss his plans for the 2027 general election. Though Senator Adeola, also known as Yayi, has yet to publicly declare his 2027 goal. Groups and individuals continue to gathering in support of Adeola's candidacy for governor in the upcoming election.
Dr. Yemisi Bamgbose, chairman of the steering committee of Ogun West Professionals, said in a statement on Tuesday that the chat was thought necessary because Adeola is widely recognised as a front-runner for the Ogun gubernatorial on the All Progressives Congress platform. At the Ilaro gathering, Bamgbose stated that Adeola would speak about his 2027 agenda in front of media representatives, monarchs, community leaders, and other visitors.
''In order to ensure that Ogun West can win the upcoming 2027 gubernatorial election, experts suggested that they hold a media conversation with Senator Adeola to hear directly from him and to allow him to share his plans with the world, according to Bamgbose. He emphasised that the goal of the Ogun West Professionals was to address the division that has impeded the zone's ambition to secure the governorship.
Bamgbose continued, "The Ogun West Senatorial District has not been lucky enough to occupy the number one position in Ogun State in terms of gubernatorial seat since the state was established in 1976, especially under current democratic dispensation. And this was partly attributed to the fact that people in the zone, particularly politicians, have not spoken with one voice.
We, the experts, are from various cities and villages within the zone, including Awori, Yewa, Anago, and Ketu. This applies to all five local governments in Ogun West: Ado-Odo Ota, Imeko Afon, Ipokia, Yewa North, and Yewa South. "The professionals said let's have a media chat with Senator Adeola to hear from him directly and to let him tell the whole world what he has on the table to ensure that Ogun West can win the gubernatorial election that is coming in 2027."
He said that Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, who represents Ekiti Central Senatorial District, will be the guest speaker at the occasion. Bamgbose stated that the professionals were pushing the Ogun West agenda for 2027, since "since the creation of Ogun State in 1976, the governorship seat has been exchanged between only two senatorial districts, namely, Ogun East and Ogun Central, to the detriment of Ogun West." However, Ogun West Senatorial District is a key economic powerhouse that encompasses 37% of the state's surface."
However, Bamgbose stated that the group was also mobilising individuals, groups, clubs, and artisans from other senatorial districts in the state to support the Ogun West agenda. "The event aims to foster unity and coherence among the people of Ogun West Senatorial District in their support for a victorious governorship candidate from the zone in the 2027 election.
We are doing everything we can to unite opinions and bring people together so that a formidable team and voice can emerge from Ogun West Senatorial District, allowing us to gain the support of Ogun Central Senatorial District and Ogun East Senatorial District in 2027. So, I believe the organisation is considering both who is likely and who is more favourable among the politicians vying for the position.
"So, we're aiming to promote unity and coherence among zone aspirants. Certainly, we cannot get 100% support for any single candidate because, as long as we have numerous political parties, there will be diverse interests and candidates. "But this time around, I think part of what the Ogun West professionals are clamouring for is to make sure that aspirants from the zone in key political parties ensure that they are made the gubernatorial flagbearers of their parties so that the people of Ogun West Senatorial District can eventually determine whom they want."
