Suspected terrorists stormed Madagali, Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri's hometown, and kidnapped six family members early Tuesday morning. The attack took place at Gare Village, Pallam District, Madagali Local Government Area of the state.
In a statement made by the spokesman Adamawa State Police Command SP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the occurrence and stated that security personnel had begun a joint search-and-rescue effort to ensure the abduction victims' release.
''The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed an attack on Gare Village, Pallam District, Madagali Local Government Area, by suspected terrorists in the early hours of today, which resulted in the abduction of six family members and the rustling of livestock," the statement said.
Nguroje stated that the command had promptly sent more people and operational assets to the region in cooperation with other security authorities. "Upon receipt of the report, the Command immediately intensified collaboration and deployed additional personnel and operational assets in a joint operation involving the Nigeria Police Force, Troops of 144 Battalion, and the Civilian Joint Task Force to the affected area and surrounding communities," according to Nguroje.
According to the police spokesman, he said that the Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Command Dankombo Morris, has directed ongoing activities to secure the safe rescue of the victims and avoid additional attacks. ''The Commissioner of Police has directed ongoing search-and-rescue operations, strengthened patrols, and increased security presence in Madagali and adjacent border settlements to ensure the victims' safe rescue,return and to prevent further threats," Nguroje said. He emphasised that security agencies remained dedicated to protecting people and property throughout the state.
"The command in collaboration with the Nigerian Army and other security agencies, remain fully committed to protecting lives and properties across the State," he said.
The attack occurred as Governor Fintiri began a visit of the state's 21 local government units on Tuesday to review the security situation and other difficulties that inhabitants face. Adamawa State has seen a surge in violent occurrences in recent weeks. Hong Local Government Area was also assaulted lately, killing 12 people and destroying several homes.
