The Secretary to the Ogun State Government (SSG), Tokunbo Talabi has joined other top government officials and political leaders to the big celebration commemorating Ogun State's 50th anniversary at the Ijebu North Local Government Area.
Hon. Joseph Adegbesan, a House of Representatives member representing Ijebu North, Waterside, and Ijebu East; Sen. Adegbenga Kaka, a former Deputy Governor and Senator; Hon. Tele Ogunjobi, Executive Director for Finance, Southwest Development Commission; Hon. Babatunde Ipaye, Former Commissioner for Health; and Hon. Bolaji Odusanya, Chairman of Ijebu North Local Government, among other political office holders, traditional rulers, party leaders and community stakeholders were all present at the event.
The celebration, which was part of a bigger event marking Ogun State's Golden Jubilee, brought a large crowd of citizens, party supporters, youth and women groups, craftsmen, market leaders, and members of other community associations from Ijebu North.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, described the 50th Anniversary as a watershed moment that highlighted Ogun State's rich history, tenacity, and steady growth over the years. He praised the people of Ijebu North for their contributions to the state's growth and development, and encouraged them to continue supporting Governor Dapo Abiodun's administration.
Talabi stated that the current administration stressed inclusive governance, infrastructure development, economic growth, and social welfare, emphasising that the benefits of democracy were spread to communities throughout the state, including Ijebu North.
Other speakers, including Hon. Tele Ogunjobi, Hon. Babatunde Ipaye, and Hon. Adegbesan, emphasised key achievements of the Abiodun administration in areas such as housing, industrial development, road infrastructure, and job creation, reaffirming the government's commitment to ensuring that development reaches all parts of the state.
In his remarks, Hon. Bolaji Odusanya, Chairman of Ijebu North Local Government, thanked the State government for its ongoing support and significant projects in the area.He described the Golden Jubilee event as an opportunity for reflection, thanks, and a renewed commitment to grassroots development.
The celebration included the distribution of helmets to motorcycle
riders and writing materials to all attendees, as well as music and dance performances highlighting the Ijebu North Local Government's rich legacy.
