The Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government has commenced the production and distribution of 120 desks and benches for primary school pupils, in a move aimed at improving learning conditions and strengthening educational infrastructure across the council area.
The chairman of the council, Lawal Wasiu, disclosed that the initiative targets schools currently undergoing renovation in Ere and Igbesa wards, ensuring that pupils return to well-equipped and conducive classrooms after the second term holiday.
He explained that the project has been assigned to the Department of Works and Housing through the recently revitalised local government workshop, underscoring the administration’s commitment to practical and sustainable development.
Wasiu reiterated that investment in infrastructure that supports teaching and learning remains a top priority of his administration, noting that the provision of essential facilities such as classroom furniture plays a critical role in enhancing pupils’ comfort and academic performance.
The council boss added that the ongoing production of desks and benches forms part of broader interventions designed to deliver tangible dividends of democracy at the grassroots, particularly in the area of basic education.
He assured residents that the local government would continue to implement initiatives that uplift the standard of education and create a more enabling environment for pupils and teachers alike.
