The Ogun State Government has commenced full operations of the Ogun State Electricity Regulatory Commission (OGSERC) in a strategic push to end energy instability and guarantee fair pricing for consumers.
In a meeting held in Abeokuta, the Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, charged the administrative team to intensify efforts toward building a modern, reliable, and independent electricity market that prioritises the welfare of residents.
Onasanya stressed that the establishment of OGSERC goes beyond administrative formalities, noting that the Commission is designed to protect consumers and ensure transparency in electricity tariffs while fostering market growth.
“Our focus is to serve the people of Ogun State and not obstruct progress. The Commission is empowered to regulate all electricity providers within the state, and we will work closely with operators to ensure residents receive value for their money,” he said.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Service Matters, Mr. Dipo Ogunfowora, described the regulatory framework as critical to the state’s economic aspirations.
According to him, “We are laying the foundation for an efficient power sector capable of driving Ogun State’s vision of becoming a leading industrial hub.”
Responding on behalf of the team, the Secretary, Miss Oluwatoyin Sonoiki, expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in the Commission and assured residents of its commitment to diligence, transparency, and effective service delivery.
She pledged that OGSERC would work assiduously to meet public expectations and contribute significantly to the state’s energy stability and economic growth.
