Speaking at the official opening of the Workshop at the Cinema Hall of the June 12 Cultural Centre in Abeokuta, the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, represented by the State Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, stated that education remained the most enduring investment any government could bequeath to its citizens, and that sector handlers needed to be constantly equipped to face and overcome the sector's challenges if meaningful transformation was to be achieved.
"Our principals and vice principals serve as the administrative engine of our schools, while teachers mould intellect, character, and civic consciousness. When sound leadership is combined with effective classroom delivery, excellence is unavoidable," he remarked.
In his remarks, TESCOM Chairman Apostle Biodun Sanyaolu stated that worldwide best practices must be incorporated into school management, and administrators must also follow the trend. Apostle Sanyaolu acknowledged that the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration's ISEYA motto had made education a vital pillar of the State's sustainable development, emphasising that the workshop would be a tangible and quantifiable goal.
He stated that the workshop's theme, ''One Vision, One Team: Driving Excellence through Unified Leadership and Management,'' remained strategic, and that TESCOM had deliberately aligned with leadership to strengthen management capacity and improve measurable performance indicators in public secondary schools.
He further stated, "This gathering is a clarion call to synergy and commitments, a call to professionalism and renewed commitment."
Hon. Olanrewaju Majekodunmi, Commissioner 111 of TESCOM and Chairman of the Training Committee, stated in his remarks that the workshop's theme was chosen to enhance unity among school leaders as the foundation for long-term educational growth.
In his goodwill message, the State Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, stated that it was critical to keep key stakeholders in the education sector on track through training and retraining that also included adequate welfare, urging participants to take advantage of the workshop's opportunity to improve their jobs.
Earlier in his speech, Mr. Akintomiwa Osibodu, Permanent Secretary of TESCOM, stated that the workshop had been carefully designed to provide participants with practical knowledge and modern strategies in collaborative leadership, effective school administration, public service ethics, and the integration of information and communication technology, as well as artificial intelligence in teaching and learning.
In his remarks, Mr. Alaba Olùgbéwesa, President of the All Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), Ogun State Chapter, thanked the State government through TESCOM for the workshop and urged participants and other members of the association to work with the State education team to continue improving the education sector.
Mrs. Abimbola Koya, Principal of Ilewo Community High School in Abeokuta North Local Government, and Mr. Sunday Babatunde, Vice Principal of OrÃlẹ̀ Imo High School in Obafemi Owode Local Government, emphasised the importance of the workshop for professional development and effective service delivery.
