Principals, teachers and students across Ogun State’s technical colleges have been called upon to uphold excellence, discipline and academic productivity as the new academic session commences.
The Acting Executive Secretary of the Ogun State Technical and Vocational Education Board (OGSTVEB), Mrs. Mojisola Adenowo, gave the charge during a statewide monitoring exercise of technical colleges and skills acquisition centres.
Leading the Board’s management team on the inspection tour, Adenowo explained that the exercise was aimed at assessing resumption, staff readiness and overall preparedness for the new term, while also reinforcing a culture of quality teaching, effective learning and responsible school management.
She described the initiative as a strategic move to ensure a smooth and productive academic session, emphasising the need for all stakeholders to maintain high standards in teaching, learning and character development.
Addressing school administrators, Adenowo urged principals to provide strong leadership, sustain high academic standards and create a conducive learning environment for both staff and students. She also encouraged teachers to remain dedicated, adopt innovative teaching methods and inspire learners through professionalism and commitment.
The OGSTVEB boss further advised students to take their studies seriously, maintain discipline and fully utilise the opportunities offered by technical and vocational education. According to her, the skills and knowledge acquired would play a crucial role in shaping their future careers and contributions to society.
Adenowo noted that the monitoring exercise also focused on inspecting facilities, evaluating instructional delivery, monitoring students’ attendance and identifying areas requiring support and intervention. She added that the exercise would ensure compliance with established academic and administrative standards across institutions.
Reaffirming the Board’s commitment to strengthening technical and vocational education in the state, she highlighted the importance of regular supervision, quality assurance and sustained collaboration with school administrators and other stakeholders.
She expressed confidence in the collective efforts of principals, teachers, students and parents in achieving improved outcomes in the sector.
Institutions visited during the exercise included Government Science and Technical Colleges in Ayetoro, Ijebu-Ode, Ilara-Remo, Ajegunle, Igbesa, Idi-Aba (Abeokuta) and Ijebu-Igbo, as well as Government Technical and Vocational College, Isabo, Abeokuta. The team also inspected Iperu and Ilishan Skills Acquisition Centres.
