Air raid sirens sounded across Jerusalem and parts of central Israel on Tuesday after the Israeli military warned of incoming missiles launched from Iran, marking the 11th day of escalating hostilities between the two countries.
In a statement, the Israeli military confirmed that its defence systems had been activated to intercept the incoming threats. Shortly after the alert, explosions were heard in Jerusalem, according to reports from journalists in the city.
Emergency response agency, Magen David Adom, said there were no immediate reports of casualties from the latest missile attack. However, its medical teams treated a few individuals who sustained minor injuries while rushing to shelters, as well as others experiencing anxiety.
The renewed missile strike comes amid heightened tensions following retaliatory attacks by Iran after joint military operations carried out by the United States and Israel against Iranian targets.
First responders disclosed that since Iran began launching missiles at Israel in retaliation for the strikes, at least 11 people have been killed and several others injured.
On Monday, a man was killed by shrapnel while another person sustained serious injuries in central Israel after explosions rocked the area following another round of missile launches from Iran.
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the country’s military campaign against Iran was far from over, emphasizing that operations would continue until Israel achieved its objectives.
His remarks came shortly after U.S. President Donald Trump expressed optimism that the conflict would end soon, suggesting that the war could be nearing its conclusion.
